Carl-Harry Stålhane Stoneware Vase, Rörstrand Sweden, 1950s

£230.00

A Swedish stoneware vase designed by Carl-Harry Stålhane for Rörstrand, produced within the Ateljé studio line, mid-20th century.

The form is low and wide, with a gently raised neck and a calm, grounded presence. The surface is finished in a soft, tonal glaze, with the upper part in grey with a subtle olive undertone, deepening toward the base into darker brown and near-black tones with a gentle warmth. The colours shift subtly with the light, appearing lighter or deeper depending on the setting. A delicate pattern of fine radial lines sits within the surface, catching the light gently and adding a quiet sense of rhythm.

The Ateljé marking denotes Rörstrand’s studio line, where pieces were produced in smaller numbers, each with a distinctly individual character.

Condition: Very good vintage condition.
No chips or crack. Minor variations in the glaze consistent with studio production.

Signed to the base.

Dimensions: Height – 8 cm, Diameter – 14 cm

UK delivery included in the price.

Available to view by appointment in the London home studio, where pieces are presented within a lived setting.

This Carl-Harry Stålhane vase for Rörstrand reflects the quiet refinement of mid-century Scandinavian ceramics. Pieces of this period are valued for their restrained forms, tactile surfaces and subtle glazing, making them particularly well suited to minimalist, Japandi and Scandinavian-style interiors. Carefully selected vintage ceramics can bring depth and balance to a space, whether placed alongside mid-century furniture or within more contemporary settings.
